Grants Process Guide

  1. Before you begin. If you are pursuing a biomedical research or training grant, review the Biomedical Research Development guidance. Early planning activities—center-level capture planning and strategic interdisciplinary research events—help shape your idea.
  2. Start with your research idea.
  3. Are you interested in internal funding?
    • Yes – explore internal programs and apply for internal funding.
    • No – find funding for external opportunities.
  4. Is this a limited submission? Confirm through the Limited Submissions process. As you prepare, access grant-writing resources and write a one-page concept paper to vet your idea.
  5. Do you have a cost share requirement? Review Cost Sharing.
  6. Start your proposal through PERA.
